Acupuncture?

Looking for acupuncture? Which one?

When people talking about acupuncture, they don’t realize that “Acupuncture” is an umbrella term which includes the following types/styles/ techniques:

1. Chinese type (TCM) acupuncture
2. Five Element acupuncture
3. Dr. Tan type acupuncture
4. Dr. Mun moving acupuncture
5. Dr. Nogier acupuncture
6. Master Tung type acupuncture
7. Korean acupuncture
8. Japanese acupuncture
9. Vietnamese acupuncture
10. Marmapuncture
11. Shamanic acupuncture
12. Abdominal acupuncture.
13. Auricular acupuncture
14. Electroacupuncture
15. Laseroacupuncture
16. Moxibustion
17. Trigger point acupuncture (dry needling)
18. Teishein acupressure
19. Su Jok acupressure
20. Shiatsu acupressure
21. Hidjama

Some of them can look very similar, some – totally different. But the main idea – to balance energy flow is the same. Understanding of energy again can be similar but can be totally different in the basic concept.

Can acupuncture help?
Yes, for sure. Otherwise, it would never survive 5000 years of its practice.
But not always.

It depends on the following factors
1. Diagnosis and stage of the disease
2. Physical and psychical condition of the patient
3. Age
4. Combination with other treatment and the patient’s lifestyle
5. Qualification of the acupuncturist
6. Duration of treatment
7. The motivation of the patient and the acupuncturist
8. Availability of equipment

How to choose an acupuncturist?
1. Indeed it’s not a question of state certification & licensing. Just imagine the Grand Master of acupuncture moved from Vietnam to any European country. He needs to pass an exam of the local language, than to nostrificate his diploma (if any), than to take hours of study in the country, later to pass an exam (in surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, and therapy) to become a general practitioner and finally to take several hundred hours on acupuncture in local courses, to pass an exam, and voila! Clear that real Masters will never spend their time on this rubbish.

2. Should you rely on Internet presence, marketing activity? Clear that –no.
3. References? They might be useful if you have several acupuncturists in one location and want to choose one of them. But if in your city only one, two of them? You will get useless references.
4. Price based decision? Doubtfully.

So you have 3 basic questions:
1. Do you need acupuncture? Will it help you?
2. What type/style of acupuncture is the most beneficial for you?
3. How to identify and choose an acupuncturist?
